This is the newest Scott Trim carving on the go. The face is carved from
Yellow Cedar and the sun rays out of local Cariboo juniper.
It hasn't been named yet, so if you have any great ideas, please pass them along......

Wood carving using Yellow Cedar
Wood Carving and Yellow Cedar
Yellow cedar is nice to carve with, it has a nice aroma and is a relatively easy to carve. This wood is soft and holds good detail and doesn't tear like red cedar wood.
Yellow cedar is commonly found west of the Coast Mountains in the mid and north coastal regions. It is commonly found growing with hemlock at high elevations.
This wood is not that easy to come by. It is very valuable because of it's resistance to decay and straight grain. Yellow cedar is used extensively in boat building.
